Under the Golden Gate Bridge

Under Golden Gate Bridge 2010

Way back in 2010, when I was just beginning to take my photography seriously, I went to San Francisco on vacation.

I brought with me a Samsung NX100—an early mirrorless ILC crop‑sensor camera. It was actually a very good camera for its time, and I wish Samsung had continued making ILC cameras.

Anyway, like any good tourist, I planned a half‑day at the Golden Gate Bridge, specifically at Fort Point. There you can explore a historic military complex, and one of the highlights is reaching the top floor of the old fort, where you end up with a view of the underside of the bridge.

Orange metal girders crosshatching each other, rivets, and the entrance to the bay—it’s spectacular. I grabbed this shot to remember it by.
